FLOWER DELIVERY TO SARATOV
Saratov, a dominant Russian port sustained by the Volga River, was founded in 1590 by Tsar Fyodor Ivanovich under orders from count Grigory Zasekin. The city was of paramount importance to the Soviet Union during WWII, as it served as a station on a military railroad. For over more than 4 decades following the end of the war, it remained a ‘closed city’, forbidden to foreigners on account of its military importance. As testimony to its calibre, the city houses the open-air State Museum of Battle Glory, in Pobedy Park.
A powerful cultural centre, Saratov is a city whence some of the most towering artistic figures and cultural personalities emerged, such as Borisov-Musatov, Exter Alexandra, Leo Igorev, and more recently, Marina Milavina. Borisov-Musatov founded the Saratov school and organised the widely acclaimed ‘Blue Rose’ exhibition. Other notable locals include Igor Lysyj and Evgeny Romanov, chess Grandmasters, as well as Nikolay Semyonov, a chemist who won the Nobel Prize. The city is also an architectural gem with colourful and inspiring cathedrals, churches, museums and universities scattered along the valley of the Volga across the various rayons.
