Summer and holidays are almost over; it’s time to return to work and for the kids to go back to school. Weekdays mean doing homework and going to bed early, so you’ll have to make the most of the weekends to spend time with the kids, playing and doing fun stuff.

Round-ended scissors, coloured pieces of cardboard and a little patience are the only things you’ll need for creating paper flowers as pretty as those you can see in this picture.
Kids will unleash their imagination and have a ball bending, cutting and sticking cardboard together. What’s more, when they see the flowers they’ve made with their own hands, they’ll feel proud of their creation.
For older and more skilled children, there is also the option of origami. There is a large variety of books on the topic, in which you’ll find lots of ideas for making paper flowers with this Japanese technique. Here is a simple example.

And what should you do with the flowers you’ve made with your own hands? You can use them in many ways, for instance:
- Place four or five flowers in a mug and use it as a centrepiece. If you’re throwing a party at home, you can decorate tables with this simple trick.
- Another party idea is sticking the flowers on the wall or making a garland to hang from the ceiling.
- Set up a small florist’s at home! Not a real one, of course, but one that your kids can play at making people happy with flowers, just like we do at FloraQueen.
