Flower Delivery in Phoenix: Give Yourself Flower Delivery in Phoenix to Enjoy the Saguaro and Its Flowers

You are probably familiar with the state of Arizona, but there might be some things that you don't know, and that's where we come in.

Arizona is a mountain state located in the western part of the United States. Its capital is the beautiful city of Phoenix. It is the sixth-largest state in the United States and the 16th most populated one.

It includes spectacular geological formations such as the Monument Valley or the Grand Canyon.

Arizona is also part of the Sun Belt, which is experiencing strong population growth, especially in Phoenix, where you can enjoy so many things. From cultural, geological, and historical views, Phoenix is a beautiful place to visit.  If you visit Arizona and want to bring back a souvenir for yourself or someone you care about, consider the official state flower: the saguaro. It is a popular cactus native to the state.

If you know nothing about the saguaro nor the city of Phoenix, by reading the following, you can learn more about:

* Phoenix and Its State Are Full of Wonders
* Do You Know the Arizona Official Flower?
* The Saguaro National Park
* Things You May Not Know about the Saguaro
* Give Yourself a Little Time to Express Your Feelings for Your Dear Ones in Arizona

Phoenix and Its State Are Full of Wonders

Phoenix is the biggest city and capital of Arizona. 40% of the population is of Hispanic origin.

The city is located in the heart of the Sonora Desert, in the Salt River Valley, whose bed is often dry. The McDowell Mountains, South Mountain Park, White Tank Mountains, and the Superstition Mountains surround it.

The hot climate is attracting more and more residents. In fact, during the last 10 years, the population has increased by 25%. Thus, economic activity is thriving, especially in the electronics industry.

The city is full of museums and amazing places where to go, such as the “Phoenix Art Museum,” “Phoenix Mountains Park and Recreation Area,” “Phoenix Museum of History,” or the “Phoenix Zoo.”

The Phoenix area is a recognized golf destination. Many reasons make this city a very important “winter” tourism destination for residents of the northern states.

Do You Know the Arizona Official Flower?

Saguaro, also called Carnegiea gigantea, is a large tree-like cactus and the only species of the monotypic genus Carnegiea. The saguaro flower is the official flower of Arizona. Its name’s pronunciation is “sah-wah-roh,” a Native American name for cactus.

This species originates from the Sonora Desert, straddling the southwestern United States (Arizona) and northern Mexico (Sonora and Baja California). You can also find it in southern California.

The genus “Carnegiea” was named in honor of Andrew Carnegie of the Tucson Center for Desert Studies, who has done much to preserve the species.

Like plants such as the coconut palm, saguaro has become a cliché. It is common to see it used as a logo or in advertisements.

The growth of saguaros depends on rainfall. The largest saguaro known is in Maricopa County, in Arizona: It has reached 13.8 m tall and 3.1 m in circumference. A fire damaged it in June 2005.

The Saguaro National Park

Now because you are more familiar with this fantastic and emblematic cactus, we welcome you in the “Saguaro National Park.” It is a U.S. national park located near Tucson in Pima County, southern Arizona.

The park covers an area of 370 km2. It is famous for its many cacti, one of them is the saguaro. The park is located on the eastern side of the Sonora Desert. It consists of desert plains, but also mountainous areas where species less resistant to aridity manage to grow, thanks to the wetter climate at higher altitudes.

It is a perfect place to have a walk and admire the resistant cactus and its flowers in their natural environment. If you are a plant collector or a flower lover, this may even give you an idea to deliver the saguaro into your home to enjoy it even more! We, at FloraQueen, can do that for you.

Things You May Not Know about the Saguaro

Let us discover together many secrets the saguaro is hiding.

First, the flower of the imposing cactus is a symbol of Arizona. Flowering takes place between April and June during the night and very early in the morning when the temperature is still cool. The incredible thing about this flower is that it remains present for only 24 hours. This is enough time for pollination to take place.

Secondly, the saguaro is a protected species because they are a slow-growing plant. In Arizona, it is particularly prohibited to destroy or dig them up.

Let us go back in history: Native Americans used saguaro trunks for their construction. Thus, you may see its wood in the roof of the cloisters of San Xavier del Bec Mission near Tucson.

Finally, a saguaro’s arms usually begin to grow after it is about 15 feet tall and around 75 years old, and there is no limit to the number of arms it can grow.

Give Yourself a Little Time to Express Your Feelings for Your Dear Ones in Arizona

Showing feelings is fundamental. One efficient way to do it is by offering flowers or plants. If you want to give those beautiful gifts to someone dear to you in Phoenix, with no efforts, then you have come to the right place: FloraQueen can help you.

In our large collection, you can find different types of flowers and plants to suit all tastes, but if your beloved ones are in Phoenix, we advise you to opt for a saguaro. As we have seen it, it is an emblem for Arizona and its cities. Moreover, this “desert sage” is resistant, durable, and has many histories behind to add in a card as “fun facts”.

To conclude, Phoenix is a desert city full of surprises in Arizona. With its beautiful street art, music, and a large number of museums and places to visit, you may never get bored there!

The official state flower of Arizona and its cities is the saguaro, a famous cactus. It is a protected species because of its slow-growing nature. However, it is also a resistant plant you can offer to give a “touch from the western desert.”
