Even Halloween monsters love flowers

On the darkest and most gruesome night of the year, there’s only one light to keep us company: shades of yellow, orange and white merge to stir excitement in the eyes and in the heart. Halloween flowers actually become the protagonists of a world that, for one night only, seems to put colours aside.

Carved pumpkins, chiefly associated with the feast of terror, can be used as original flower vases. To make one, all you have to do is follow these simple instructions:

• First of all, get your hands on a large and pretty pumpkin.
• Cover your workbench with newspaper and have sharp knives and a spoon at the ready.
• Using a black marker, draw eyes and a mouth on the pumpkin.
• Cut off the top of the pumpkin and scoop out the flesh and the seeds using the spoon.
• Carve out the monstrous eyes and mouth and decorate the pumpkin to your liking.
• To finish, pour a little water into the pumpkin and arrange your flowers inside it.

A novel idea would be to combine four or five pumpkins and make a composition of flowers and pumpkins, as if it were a plant. The “wow” factor is guaranteed and Halloween monsters will appreciate their flowery friends once again.
