Where to plant your bromeliad

If you are going to be growing the plant indoors keep these tips in mind. The bromeliad will grow best in a sunny and warm area of your house. The ideal place would be windowsill where the plant has constant exposure to the sun. But with that in mind the ideas temperature at which the bromeliad should stay is between 22-24° C in the summer and between 18-20° C in the winter, you do not want to overheat the plant. In addition, the plant does not like drafts or cold air. It does not need to be in a deep pot, as it does not have extensive roots. A shallow pot will be fine, as well as a mixed soil, a thick soil is not necessary.

When to water your bromeliad

Bromeliads are, in nature, epiphyte plants, meaning they have a reduced root system and they are able to grow harmlessly off of other plants. When doing this they are receiving water and nutrients from the air and rain. Therefore, they do not need a lot of watering, excessive watering may cause the plant and roots to rot. Only give them light watering when necessary. It is best if you have the pot on a saucer in which you can place the water, allowing the plant to absorb what it needs. If you chose to do this be sure to change the water often so as not to attract bugs.

When to FERTILIZE your BROMELIA

Fertilizing the bromeliad is similar to watering it, because they are able to absorb nutrients from their surroundings they do not need heavy amounts of fertilizer. We recommend using fertilizer specifically designed for bromeliads. Simply follow the instructions on the package.
