What Blue Flowers Mean: Symbolism and Significance

Flowers come in many different colors and hues but blue is one of nature’s stranger, more mysterious shades. There are a few varieties of blue flowers out there, from forget-me-nots to hydrangeas, from irises to lotus. Blue flowers are a trick nature can pull but very often does not. This, of course, gives this color flower an individual style of its own and a special significance when analyzing the suggested meaning.

What kind of blue flowers are out there?

Some people are occasionally surprised to discover that there are very few if any naturally occurring blue varieties for regular cut flowers like roses, gerberas, carnations, and chrysanthemums. If you’ve ever seen a blue version of one of these common commercial flowers then it’s very likely this is a result of the florist dying the blooms and petals to achieve this unique color.
